Conspiracy of Silence

A priest takes his own life. At the same time two seminarians are expelled. A journalist begins looking into these events. His question is the silence of the Vatican. The subject is the breaking of vows of celibacy. The church does not speak about it. The journalist looks for the reason behind that silence. The film examines the internal conflicts of the modern Catholic church. The account runs drama, thriller and mystery together. The journalist’s investigation is the main line of the film. The tension between an institution and an individual is inside the account. Jonathan Forbes and Hugh Bonneville take the leads, with Brenda Fricker also in the cast, in John Deery’s Irish and British coproduction of 2003.
