What Copacabana Is About
Babou is a woman who takes nothing seriously. A proper job, a husband, responsibilities: she never wanted any of it. But when she learns that her own daughter is ashamed of her and did not even invite her to the wedding, she decides to change something. Out of season she starts selling timeshares on the Belgian coast and, to her own surprise, is named employee of the month. Then, as usual, she wrecks her own success. What is left is finding a present worthy of her daughter. Marc Fitoussi directs, with Isabelle Huppert as Babou and Huppert's real daughter Lolita Chammah as hers. It is a comedy, but a reckoning between mother and daughter runs underneath it.
