What Coupe de Ville Is About

The summer of 1963. The Libner brothers do not see each other. Marvin, the eldest, is a sergeant in the air force; Buddy, the middle one, is a dreamer; Bobby, the youngest, is handsome and in reform school. Their father Fred hands all three the same job: get the 1954 Cadillac he bought in Detroit down to Miami for their mother's birthday. Not one scratch on it. The three set off and are arguing by the first day. Over the course of the drive, both the car and the distance between them change. Joe Roth directs, with Daniel Stern, Arye Gross and Patrick Dempsey as the brothers and Alan Arkin as the father. Ninety-nine minutes. The scene everyone remembers is the three of them arguing about the lyrics of Louie Louie.
