My Annoying Brother

Dinna Jasanti's 2024 Indonesian film is the local adaptation of the Korean film of the same name. Adit, a judoka who loses his sight in a bout, is joined by his elder brother, who claims responsibility for his care in order to get early release; the relationship rests on self-interest from the start and both of them know it. The adaptation's strength is how guilt and resentment between brothers fit into a local family structure. Vino G. Bastian's elder brother works without slipping into charm. The film's limit is using disability as an emotional device and increasing the steering in the final section. The sporting sequences are well shot. Who it's for: viewers who like Indonesian family drama and stories about brothers. Who it's not for: anyone who has seen the original, or put off by emotional steering.
