Cover Boy

Ioan, whose father was a medic shot during the Romanian revolution, scrapes a living as a mechanic at home and, urged on by a friend, boards a train for Italy. In Rome he cannot find work, washes at night in the janitors’ washroom at Termini Station and meets Michele, a cleaner there, in the course of a fight. Michele is hostile at first, then takes him into his flat and finds him an off the books job in a scrapyard; an unexpected friendship forms between two poor men. Ioan being spotted by a photographer and turned into a cover face is what really tests that friendship. In Carmine Amoroso’s ninety three minute Italian film, Chiara Caselli plays the photographer, Eduard Gabia plays Ioan and Luca Lionello plays Michele. It was shown at the Rome Film Festival in 2006.
