What Prayers for Bobby Is About
A mother firm in her Catholic faith tries to change her son when she learns he is gay. After his death she begins reading her own faith again. The real film is its second half: her change of mind comes not as a moment of revelation but through months in a library and the texts she reads. The narrative does not soften where the fault lay. Sigourney Weaver leads. It follows the real story of Mary Griffith and was made for television. A real warning: the film is about a young man's suicide and shows his death. Do not come to it unprepared.
