Bjørn Floberg What Cross My Heart and Hope to Die Is About
The summer holiday begins in the Oslo of the sixties, but Otto has nowhere to go; he is taken neither into the gang in the neighbourhood nor into the football team. At a match he meets Frank, a mysterious figure much older than he is, and the boy attaches himself to him at once. The man’s influence looks exciting at first and then draws the boy step by step somewhere dangerous, and childhood ends all at once. Adapted from a novel by Lars Saabye Christensen, the film is about how easily admiration can be used, and it makes a monster of nobody. Marius Holst’s first feature, ninety six minutes long, was completed in Norway in 1994 and was given a prize in Berlin.
