What Danny Boy Is About
A television production. After a firefight at the checkpoint known as Danny Boy in Iraq, the British soldier Brian Wood spends years facing allegations of war crimes. The man who brought them is the human rights lawyer Phil Shiner. The film covers both what happened on the ground and the courtroom, and shows what it means for a soldier's name to stay stained for years. It is a real case: the Al-Sweady inquiry concluded the allegations were without foundation, and Shiner was later struck off. Anthony Boyle and Toby Jones face each other.
