Daughters Courageous

Nan Masters lives with her four daughters. All of them are of marrying age. Nan is preparing to marry again. The man is Sam Sloane, a businessman. Then someone turns up unannounced. It is Jim, Nan’s first husband. Jim walked out on the family twenty years ago. The welcome he gets is cold. He is a warm man all the same. In time he wins his daughters over. The youngest, Buff, has a matter of her own. She is with a man called Gabriel Lopez. Nobody can guess what Gabriel will do next. Jim gives his approval to the pair, which pleases Buff. She plans to run off with him on her mother’s wedding day. John Garfield, Claude Rains, Fay Bainter and Donald Crisp appear in the hundred and seven minute film, an American production Michael Curtiz finished in 1939.
