Dealer

Johnny is fourteen, lives in a children's home and makes money selling drugs. When he learns that his weekend leave has been withdrawn, only one solution occurs to him: to ask one of his customers for help. That customer is Antony, a famous and successful stage actor. Johnny asks him to become his weekend guardian. This Belgian film, the actor Jeroen Perceval's first as a director, leaves neither side comfortable: the addicted man uses the boy, the boy uses the man, and something real forms between them all the same. The telling declares Johnny neither innocent nor lost. Sverre Rous plays the boy and Ben Segers the actor. The tone is cold and kept at a distance; the film makes no promise of saving anyone.
