Dear Nathan: Thank You Salma

Kuntz Agus's 2022 Indonesian film follows Nathan and Salma as they move on to university. Both care about social questions, but their methods part. Salma works through writing and organising online; Nathan chooses action in the street. When a demonstration turns violent the relationship is damaged too, and the narrative does not say which of them is right. It is the third film in a series and its characters carry over from earlier parts. Jefri Nichol and Amanda Rawles lead. The tone is close to youth drama. Who it's for: viewers of Indonesian youth films and followers of the series. Who it's not for: viewers new to the earlier films; the narrative assumes them.
