Death by Metal

The documentary tells the fifteen year story of a metal band formed in Florida. At the centre of the account stands the man who founded the band and set its direction; although the line up kept changing, the sound of the band was shaped by his decisions. The film gives that stretch of time as both fruitful and difficult, and does not hide that the work did not come easily. Among those who speak are musicians who played in the band at different periods, each telling it from his own side. The documentary offers a record of how things were built in the early days of the genre. The account is not content to describe the music; it takes the human relations inside a band with the same seriousness. Felipe Belalcazar’s hundred and seven minute documentary was completed in 2016.
