Death of a Gentleman

Two cricket journalists set out to look into the future of the game they love. The question at the start is a simple one: why is Test cricket weakening. As the investigation goes on, what they run into is a question of governance. Under reforms approved in 2014, India, England and Australia came to decide over the sport’s revenues. The film interviews the men who drove those reforms through, Giles Clarke among them. Its case is that the change left the future of the game in the hands of a few bodies; that assessment is the film’s own. The account records the journalists’ own disillusion as well. The ninety eight minute British documentary by Sam Collins, Jarrod Kimber and Johnny Blank was completed in 2015.
