Devil's Temple

There is an abandoned temple in the mountains. The place is outside the old capital, Kyoto. Three people live in the temple. One is a merciless killer and two are women. Strangers who come near it come to harm. One day a travelling priest arrives. He has brought his faith in the Buddha with him. He wants to free the three of them from whatever holds them. The people in the temple do not want that. His words shake one of them and anger another. The tension between them grows. The women have reckonings of their own. The story takes place in one confined setting. The film is short and hard. Shintarō Katsu and Hideko Takamine appear in the seventy six minute film, a Japanese production Kenji Misumi finished in 1969.
