What Die Wunderübung Is About
Joana and Valentin are a couple carrying a marriage that has not worked for a long time, and they go to a couples therapist as a last attempt. From the moment they enter the room their habits take over: she talks without stopping, he pretends to listen, and the therapist is caught between them. A message on his phone breaks the order of the session, and the therapist’s own life comes onto the table as well. The film takes place almost entirely in a single room with three people, and the talk itself builds the story. Michael Kreihsl’s ninety six minute Austrian film was adapted from a novel; Aglaia Szyszkowitz, Devid Striesow and Erwin Steinhauer appear.
