Kim Jeong-kwon's 2000 South Korean film is about a conversation between two students living in different times. Using an old ham radio he happens to find, In makes contact with a young woman; both are at the same university but twenty-one years apart. As they talk they realise they know the same people in each other's lives, and the consequences of changing time emerge. The film does not attempt to explain its science fiction; how the radio works is never asked and the story is built entirely on feeling. The campus life of the eighties and Korea at the start of the 2000s are set side by side. It is among the most remembered works of the Korean romantic fantasy tradition and was later remade. Who it's for: viewers who like romantic fantasy and Korean cinema. Who it's not for: anyone expecting consistent time-travel logic; the film does not care about it.
