Don

Don, directed by Chandra Barot from a Salim-Javed screenplay, was the third highest grossing Indian film of 1978. During filming, producer Nariman Irani died in an on set accident on December 10, 1977; when the film became a major hit, actors including Amitabh Bachchan, Zeenat Aman, and Pran gave up part of their fees to Irani's widow. Amitabh Bachchan plays a dual role, both the ruthless gang leader Don and the innocent villager Vijay; the film was remade in 2006 by director Farhan Akhtar with Shah Rukh Khan and continued with Don 2 in 2011.
