Dudes!

Radivoje Andrić's 2001 Serbian comedy takes place across a single night in Belgrade. Mare and Pop have been friends since childhood and have always worked in music; Gojko, whom they bullied at school, has grown into a man in a suit with his own club and recording studio. The three cross paths through the night and a fast, scattered, high-energy circuit around the city's different scenes begins. The film records the youth culture, music scene and economic reality of late-nineties Serbia in the language of comedy; it is never directly political, but all the fatigue of the period is visible behind it. The cutting and the use of music are quick, and the story moves in short segments. It became a cult film at home. Who it's for: viewers who like Balkan comedy and stories that unfold over one night in a city. Who it's not for: anyone who will miss the local references and slang; a large part of the humour lives there.
