Dunya and Desie are eighteen, best friends, and grew up together in the north of Amsterdam. Dunya is Moroccan, Desie is Dutch. On her birthday Dunya learns that a marriage has been arranged for her with a distant cousin in Morocco, and Desie learns that she is pregnant. They make the same journey for different reasons: one to face the life being asked of her, the other to find a father she has never met. Dana Nechushtan drew the film out of a television series that ran three seasons and carries the weight with humour. It was the Dutch Oscar submission that year.
