What Eating Animals Is About
Adapted from Jonathan Safran Foer's book of the same name, the documentary sets out what industrial animal farming does to the environment, to public health and to the economy. Christopher Quinn directed; Natalie Portman narrates and co-produced. At its centre are a handful of farmers who chose to step outside the system and are paying for it, along with whistleblowers speaking from inside the industry. The account is built on how farming changed over the last forty years, and it argues an open case: industrial producers are given no room. It is worth watching knowing what it leaves out as well as what it covers. On what it does cover it stays concrete and documented.
