What God Grew Tired of Us Is About
The civil war in Sudan drove thousands of children out of the country on foot; they came to be called the Lost Boys of Sudan. The documentary follows three of them: John Bul Dau, Daniel Abul Pach and Panther Bior. All three, after years in a refugee camp in Kenya, are resettled in the United States. There something else meets them: electric kitchens, bus timetables, rent, two jobs at once, and the question of whether they will ever see the families they left behind. Christopher Dillon Quinn directs; Nicole Kidman narrates. It won both the grand jury prize and the audience award at Sundance. It also follows what came after: all three try to send help back from what they earn.
