Ed, Edd n Eddy's Big Picture Show

Ed, Edd and Eddy set up another scam and this time it really goes wrong: every child in the neighbourhood is harmed and comes after them. They have to run. Eddy knows one place to go: where his older brother lives. They argue the whole way and Eddy will not explain why he lies so much. The children chasing them are on the road too. When they arrive, how much of everything Eddy has said about his brother is true comes out. Danny Antonucci directs. The film was made as the close of the series, for Cartoon Network. The series began in 1999 and ran ten years; this film was made to finish the story. The form is a road film; the series' single setting structure goes outside for the first time here. What is most striking is the change of register; the comedy continues, but the last section is harder than anything in the series. Eddy's behaviour over all those years is given a reason here, and the narrative does not present it as a joke. The animation is in the series' known manner: wavering lines, exaggerated movement and physical comedy. Among the audience of the series it is spoken of as the best part of it. Who it is for: people who watched the series and viewers who like nineties cartoon humour. Who it is not for: the character context is missing for anyone who does not know the series, and the humour is entirely physical.
