What Edie Is About
At eighty three, after the death of a husband who had controlled her for decades, Edie goes after the life she never got to have: she packs an old camping bag and heads for Scotland to climb Suilven. Jonny, a young man she meets near the station, helps her prepare. The most striking thing about the film is behind the camera: Sheila Hancock genuinely climbed that mountain at eighty three, every step of it herself. Simon Hunter's film shows the landscape without tricks for exactly that reason.
