Evet, I Do!

In Berlin, several young couples from different religions and cultures want to marry, and each of them meets the resistance of their family, their circle and their habits. One of the couples is two men; one is a German man and a Turkish woman; one is a Turkish and Kurdish couple. There is also a man looking for a bride for hire, who learns the hard way how far expectation and reality can be from each other. The film takes marriage in the Turkish community in Germany, and all the bargaining around it, as comedy. Nobody decides alone; in every scene another family sits down at the table, and the matter passes out of the hands of two people and becomes everyone’s. Sinan Akkus’s ninety minute film was completed in 2008.
