What Eye for an Eye Is About
A blind swordsman finds himself in the middle of a struggle for power. He witnesses the slaughter of a family, with only one woman left alive. He decides to protect her and to settle the account. He cannot see, but he knows every sound he hears: a footfall, a blade cutting the air. The men against him take that for a weakness and come at him. Yang Bingjia's Chinese film stars Xie Miao, who appeared as a child in Jet Li's films. At seventy-seven minutes it is short, keeping the story compact and giving the weight to the fights. A plain, hard example of the wuxia tradition.
