Face to Face

There is an English teacher with no money and no way forward. He agrees to give private lessons in a wealthy house. The person he teaches is a woman who lives comfortably. The further into the house he goes, the more he finds himself inside an order he did not expect. Desire, self deception and guilt run into one another. He grows more and more uneasy about his own position. What is built between them turns into a spiral pulling him down. The film tells a difference of class and the dependence desire creates together. The account stands between comedy and drama. Costas Messaris and Eleni Stavropoulou take the leads in Roviros Manthoulis’s Greek film of 1966.
