A woman in Hong Kong loses her father. After the funeral she learns something she never knew: she has two sisters. One lives in Taiwan, the other on the Chinese mainland. To settle the debt their father left, the three of them have to come together. The only way to do it is to run the family’s hot pot restaurant between them. Three women who do not know each other have to become partners. The film builds family not out of blood but out of working together. The kitchen and the food hold a place of their own in the account. The hundred and nineteen minutes are spread over several months. Sammi Cheng and Megan Lai appear in Heiward Mak’s film, a joint Chinese and Hong Kong production, completed in 2019.
