What Fallen Angel Is About

Preminger's noir, made straight after Laura. Broke and out of work, Eric Stanton gets off a bus in a small California town and fixes on Stella, who works at the diner. Stella has no interest in a man without money, so Eric turns to June, a quiet well-off woman in the town, and builds a plan around her. Then a murder happens and suspicion falls directly on him. Alice Faye parted with the studio after this film, angered that her part had been cut down in the edit. Dark, low-voiced, and nobody in it is quite innocent.
