Fathers

Two men have built a life together and are raising the son they adopted. When the boy starts primary school he notices that his family is not like other people’s and begins asking questions. At the same time the couple has to deal with expectations coming from outside, with the way people look at them, and with the fact that on paper their family is not recognised. The film handles the subject not as a matter for debate but as the daily life of three people. The questions the boy asks bring out things the two fathers have never talked about between themselves. The account does not press anyone into being a model family. Uttsada Panichkul plays the lead in Palatpol Mingpornpichit’s ninety five minute Thai film, completed in 2016.
