Fear Street: 1666

The adaptation started at 20th Century Fox with Chernin Entertainment in 2015, became a trilogy in 2017, and Leigh Janiak came on to direct and rewrite it. All three were shot back to back in Georgia between March and September 2019, the plan being a theatrical run a month apart. The pandemic ended that, Chernin closed its distribution deal, Netflix took the rights in August 2020, and the three arrived in July 2021 a week apart. On screen this part carries two titles: the first half runs as 1666, the second as the continuation of 1994. The cast of the earlier films play 17th century counterparts, so Kiana Madeira is Deena and Sarah Fier, Olivia Scott Welch is Sam and Hannah Miller. The accusation gets turned around: the woman the town called a witch for centuries took the blame to save the girl she loved from the gallows, and the source of the curse sits in the family that runs the town. It premiered at a Los Angeles park on 14 July 2021. A good fit if you have watched the first two parts and want the origin and the 1994 siege closed together. Not for anyone entering the series here; the film assumes both earlier parts and builds its solution on them.
