Fènix 11-23

In the autumn of 2004 the fourteen year old Eric Bertrand sets up a website to defend the Catalan language. Its name is taken from one of the Harry Potter books. One night thirty officers from an anti-terrorist unit raid his home and the boy is named in a charge of computer terrorism. What is treated as the crime is an email asking about the labelling of goods in Catalan in supermarkets. The film puts that disproportion at the centre of the account. What a child and his family go through under such a charge is shown step by step. A question of language being turned into a question of security is the real subject. Roberto Álamo and Ana Wagener appear in the ninety six minute Spanish film by Sergi Lara and Joel Joan, completed in 2012.
