Ferry Cross the Mersey

The film is set in Liverpool in the early sixties. A new music scene is spreading through the city. Gerry and Fred Marsden, Les McGuire and Les Chadwick play themselves. The four of them are art students by day. At night they get on stage and play. A local talent contest comes their way. That contest is a real chance for them. If they win, the road will open. Just before it, though, a problem turns up. Their instruments have been carried off to the airport by mistake. The band has to get them back first. A chase starts across the city. The account mixes that scramble with comedy. Songs of the period come in between. The film shows what Liverpool was like in those years. Gerry Marsden and Freddie Marsden appear in the eighty eight minute film, a British production Jeremy Summers finished in 1965.
