René Groothof What Fidgety Bram Is About
Seven year old Bram cannot stay still; his head works so fast that his body runs after it, and he asks the world questions without stopping. He is longing to start his first year at school, but the teacher he gets is a hard man who believes there is only one right way to do anything. The teacher takes no interest in what goes on inside the boy’s head and does whatever it takes to force him into shape. The film shows Bram not as a problem to be corrected but as a child who looks at things at his own speed, and it tells the world largely from his side. Coen van Overdam and Katja Herbers appear in Anna van der Heide’s eighty three minute Dutch film; it was completed in 2012.
