What Finishing School Is About
Sent by neglectful parents to a boarding school for upper-class girls, Virginia falls in love with a medical intern who waits tables to keep himself going, and both the head of the school and her own mother object. Wanda Tuchock and George Nichols Jr. co-directed, and RKO released it on 4 May 1934, only months before the Production Code began to be enforced; the Catholic Legion of Decency banned it. Tuchock was, with Dorothy Arzner, only the second woman credited as a director in Hollywood in the 1930s. Frances Dee, Ginger Rogers and Billie Burke lead the cast.
