What Float Is About
A father discovers that his son can float, and sets about hiding the ability from everyone else. Seven minutes of animation built on a single idea: the thin line between protecting a child who is different and being ashamed of him. The director drew it from his own son and has said so openly, and the subject there is autism. There is no dialogue and everything is carried by gesture, particularly the father's shoulders. The decision at the end is what holds it up, and it offers no easy reconciliation.
