Forensic

A series of child murders shakes the city, and the case puts a forensic analyst and an investigating officer at the same table. The evidence has been handled carefully; the killer knows how to leave nothing behind. As the investigation advances, a connection surfaces with a case closed long ago. Directed by Akhil Paul and Anas Khan, this Malayalam thriller uses forensic science as the engine of the plot rather than as decoration. The laboratory scenes are long and detailed, and the narrative shares its clues with the audience, leaving room to guess. Tovino Thomas plays the analyst and Mamta Mohandas the investigating officer. The coldness of the tone and the dimness of the locations are its most distinct features. Who it's for: Viewers who like serial killer procedurals, forensic-led narratives, and Malayalam genre cinema. Who it's not for: Material in which children are targeted is heavy. The explanation at the end also leans on the genre's usual psychological shapes.
