Freedom Is Paradise

Sasha is put into a home at a young age. His mother died early. His father spends most of his life in prison. The home is a state-run children’s home. But the conditions there are like those of a penal institution. Sasha tries to escape from it. He repeats the attempt several times. Each time what he is after is the same: to find his father. The account follows that search. The home and the outside are the two sides of the account. The boy’s view of things is at the centre. The work is put together as a drama. Aleksandr Bureyev and Sergei Bodrov Jr take the leads in Sergei Bodrov’s Soviet film of 1989.
