From Nowhere

Three young people attend the same high school in the Bronx. Graduation is close. None of the three has papers. Moussa came from Guinea. He lives with his mother and money is short at home. Alyssa came from Peru. She is top of the class and looks at the future hopefully. Sophie came from the Dominican Republic. She is living with relatives. In that house she is neglected and abused. A teacher and a lawyer are helping all three. The aim is to get the documents that would let them stay. The process is long and there is no telling how it ends. All three are dealing with things beyond their years. What they want is ordinary. To be with their friends, to fall in love, to push back at authority. It played at SXSW in 2016 and took the audience award there, reaching cinemas in 2017. Julianne Nicholson and J. Mallory McCree appear in the ninety one minute film, an American production Matthew Newton finished in 2016.
