John Strickland’s 1999 British film follows a year in the lives of six Londoners just out of school. They are trying to get a foothold in the music business while the pressures of ordinary life and some real losses arrive on top of them, so that starting a band and grieving occupy the same picture. It does not follow the usual curve of a youth story, and treats neither success nor failure as a final verdict. Chiwetel Ejiofor, then very young, is in the cast, with Steve John Shepherd, Alec Newman and Anjela Lauren Smith in the other lead roles. The title comes from Greenwich Mean Time.
