Girl in the Headlines

A model is found murdered. The case is handed to Chief Inspector Birkett. Sergeant Saunders works alongside him. The two of them start looking into the circle around her. What emerges is a complicated life. Among her acquaintances are people who deal drugs. Those around her are reluctant to help the police. Two members of the Barker family are questioned and say nothing. After a while the police make an arrest. The case does not close, though. A second murder is committed at a jazz club in Soho. Whether the two deaths are connected is unclear. Birkett has to start again from the beginning. The film was adapted from a crime novel. The story is set in the London of the sixties. Ian Hendry and Ronald Fraser appear in the ninety four minute film, a British production Michael Truman finished in 1963.
