What Grey Gardens Is About
A note first: there is a famous 1975 documentary with this title; this is the dramatised version. Edith and her daughter Edie were Jackie Onassis's aunt and cousin, born into society, both of them wanting to perform. Over the years the money runs out, the invitations stop, and the two withdraw into their large summer house on Long Island. The place decays, the cats multiply, contact with the world ends. Sucsy moves between the past and the days in 1975 when the documentary was shot.
