Hamid

Eight year old Hamid lives in Kashmir. One night his father Rehmat leaves the house and does not come back. His mother tells him his father has gone to Allah. When Hamid learns that 786 is God’s number he takes it for a telephone number and dials it again and again, hoping to speak to his father. One day the call is answered; the person at the other end is a soldier posted in the region. The film is about the strange bond that forms between the two of them. The account passes no judgement on the conflict; it brings two people face to face. The gap left behind by people who disappear is given through a child’s questions. Talha Arshad Reshi, Rasika Dugal and Vikas Kumar appear in Aijaz Khan’s hundred and eight minute Indian film, completed in 2019.
