What Happythankyoumoreplease Is About
A writer in New York finds a boy separated from his family on the subway, takes him home for a few days, and cannot explain this to anyone. Josh Radnor's first film as director uses the familiar independent template of several friends tracked at once. The strand that works best belongs to a woman living with alopecia and deciding how to be visible, and Malin Akerman quietly takes the emotional centre of the film away from its nominal lead. The dialogue is sometimes too polished, too clearly written in advance, but it catches a specific late twenties irresolution.
