Haré Rama Haré Krishna

The Jaiswal family are living in Montreal when the parents separate. The son, Prashant, goes to India with his mother while his sister stays behind with their father. Years later Prashant has become a pilot. A letter comes from his father: his sister has left home and is in Kathmandu among a group of hippies. Prashant sets out to find her and bring her back to the family. It turns out to be harder than he thought; she does not want to come back. The film uses the hippie movement of the time and the Hare Krishna current as its background. Its song Dum Maro Dum, sung by Asha Bhosle, became very popular. Dev Anand and Zeenat Aman take the leads in Anand’s Indian film of 1971.
