Harvest

Marco is an apprentice on a farm in Brandenburg. His life runs between work, school and the dormitory; he is silent, keeps to himself, and ignores the girls' interest. Then Jakob arrives, having left banking to train in agriculture. At first the two are wary with each other. Then what is between them turns into a tension nobody names. A short trip to Berlin brings it into the open. But when they get back to the farm, the farm is the same as it was. Benjamin Cantu directs this German film of eighty-eight minutes. Most of the cast are not actors but young people actually working on the farm. The film explains nothing and nobody discusses their feelings; it is all built from looks, silence and distance.
