Hatred

Justin Mollenard is a ship’s captain. The company he works for sells arms to the Far East. The captain takes his cargo on long voyages. In Shanghai things go wrong. He is attacked there. The cargo is damaged as well. After that he returns to his home town. The place he returns to is Dunkirk. His wife Mathilde receives him coldly. She feels she has been neglected for years. Mollenard wants one thing only. To put out to sea again. But a heart attack leaves him confined to his bed. From then on everything is in his wife’s hands. Gina Manes and Ludmilla Pitoeff are in the cast as well. Harry Baur and Gabrielle Dorziat take the leads, with Albert Prejean also in the cast, in Robert Siodmak’s French film of 1938.
