What Heaven Is About
An architect fighting a divorce suit, drink and gambling debts takes a job remodelling a friend’s strip club. There he meets a trans dancer named Heaven, who sees what is coming and whose visions turn out to be both accurate and extremely violent. When the architect starts appearing in them he still refuses to believe any of it, while the psychiatrist treating them both, and sleeping with the architect’s ex-wife, uses the prophecies for his own gain. Scott Reynolds made the film from Chad Taylor’s 1994 novel and shot it in Auckland. Martin Donovan takes the lead, and the film is named after the dancer.
