There are many adaptations of Johanna Spyri's book; this is the 2005 British one. Orphaned, Heidi is left by her aunt with the grandfather who lives alone in the Alps under an old, serious accusation. She takes quickly to the mountain, the goats and Peter the goatherd. Then the aunt returns and takes her to Frankfurt, to a wealthy house, as a companion for Clara, who cannot walk. Max von Sydow plays the grandfather. Made for children, with careful period design; it follows the book's emotional shape and looks for no surprises.
