Heights

The film takes place in the eighteen seventies, in a Bulgaria under Ottoman rule. The young Gicho is part of a revolutionary group led by Dimitar Obshti. After a successful train robbery, Obshti gives him a particular task: to deliver a letter to Vasil Levski, one of the best known figures in the country. The account gives its events from the side of the revolutionaries; that is the point of view the film has chosen, and it does not draw the other parties of the period in any detail. The production was adapted from Milen Ruskov’s novel of the same name and was counted among the more ambitious Bulgarian projects of recent years. Aleksandar Aleksiev plays the lead in Viktor Bozhinov’s hundred and twenty minute Bulgarian film, completed in 2017.
