Hello Ghost

Indra Gunawan's 2023 Indonesian film follows Kresna, who begins seeing four ghosts after a suicide attempt. They will leave only if their requests are met. The first half is comedy. The requests are odd and Kresna has to work through them one by one; the narrative changes tone in the second half and the question of who the ghosts are comes forward. It is a remake of the 2010 Korean film. The shape is kept, but the family relationships are moved into an Indonesian setting. The close rests on emotional emphasis. Who it's for: those who like films that join comedy to feeling. Who it's not for: viewers for whom the subject of suicide would be difficult; the film addresses it directly.
